YIN YOGA
Yin Yoga is a gentle way of practicing, holding poses for a longer period of time with a more passive approach.
„Yin“ is all about letting go, surrendering and accepting every sensation in the now moment. Yin Yoga is a very gentle and loving practice with our own body. It’s mainly floor-based and a more passive style. We soften and lean into poses for a longer period of time (from one to a few minutes), which allows us to release and unwind in a very different and profound way. It’s the counterpart of more dynamic yoga stiles (representing Yang) and adds more balance to our yoga practice.
By leaning into and holding Yin poses we’re not only stretching our muscles, but we’re also reaching deeper layers of our body, like connective tissue and fascia. The physical benefits are increased joint mobility and balance, flexibility, prevention of injuries caused by tension and tightness and improvement of skeletal and postural alignment. In addition to that, on a mental level we focus on slowing down, calming our nervous system, developing greater physical awareness as well as self awareness and opening up energy channels in the body.
Yin Yoga is a pathway for deep relaxation, for letting go and surrendering. The body becomes soft and mind still.
Go inside.
Observe your thoughts,
feel sensations,
and honour emotions,
without judging yourself.
Accept yourself
In this moment.
And realise
you are enough.
